All finalists and winners to be honored at the 24th annual Heroines of Washington Awards gala on November 7

ARLINGTON, Va. (July 9, 2024) – The March of Dimes announced it has named Julie Smith, Chief Administrative Officer and Operating Partner at Bozzuto, its Corporate Heroine for the 24th annual Heroines of Washington Awards. The Heroines of Washington Awards, presented by ASRC Federal, honor professional women in the D.C. area who, in addition to their careers, dedicate significant time and effort to volunteering in the region.

“On behalf of the entire organization, we want to give our heartfelt congratulations to Julie Smith,” said Diane Nguyen, CFO of Microsoft Federal and co-chair for the 2024 Heroines of Washington Awards. “These awards are an opportunity to spotlight women who are selflessly serving our communities through a number of different organizations and Julie is a prime example of this — serving on numerous boards in addition to leading a volunteer initiative at Bozzuto.”

In addition to accepting nominations for Heroines of Washington in six categories, March of Dimes hand-selects a Corporate Heroine who is able to exponentially increase her impact through the workforce. Corporate Heroines are C-level executives who leverage their leadership positions to garner significant influence and progression of philanthropic service.

Smith leads Bozzuto’s corporate philanthropy, Rise by Bozzuto, a program that empowers over 3,300 employees to actively engage in community service projects across the regions where Bozzuto operates, fostering a culture of giving and community involvement.

“Rise by Bozzuto is a testament to the company’s commitment to the communities they serve and showcases Smith’s dedication to not only volunteering but developing a program that has a national-reach and championing volunteerism as a cornerstone of the workplace,” said Holly McKenzie, partner at PwC and co-chair for the 2024 Heroines of Washington Awards. “We look forward to celebrating Julie and all the other inspiring Heroine finalists and winners at the upcoming gala in November.”

The March of Dimes is accepting nominations until July 22, 2024, in several industry and professional categories. To nominate a Heroine and learn more about the gala, visit http://www.marchofdimes.org/events/heroines.

On November 7, 2024, March of Dimes will honor Smith and the other finalists and winners at the annual awards gala. Since 2001, the Heroines of Washington Awards has recognized 143 Heroines and raised over $4.3 million to support the March of Dimes mission.
