GREENBELT, MD — September 19, 2018 — The Bozzuto Group announced today that as of April 1, 2019, Mike Schlegel will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer, marking a new milestone in the 30-year-old company’s strategy for expansion as a multigenerational, private business. At that time, Schlegel will take on the responsibilities previously held by co-founder Rick Mostyn, with Bozzuto Construction, Development, Home Building and Property Management reporting directly to him. Mostyn will remain as Vice Chairman, continuing to serve as mentor and advisor, as well as Investment Committee participant. Mark Weisner will assume the role of Bozzuto Construction President.

Schlegel has worked with Bozzuto for 20 years, most notably as president of Bozzuto Construction Company. Since joining the company in 1999, he has overseen the construction of more than 25,000 apartments and over one million square feet of retail, with an aggregate contract value exceeding $3 billion. He also successfully expanded Bozzuto Construction’s operations to include more product types and geographic locations in the Mid-Atlantic. Schlegel’s focus on innovative thinking created a unique and talented workforce that holds integrity, inclusion and collaboration in the highest regard. Eighteen percent of Bozzuto Construction operations positions are held by women, exceeding the national average of 9 percent, and women, people of color, and veterans hold key leadership positions in the company, hiring practices that Schlegel intends to continue in his new role.
Mostyn will transition to his role as Vice Chairman of the company and will continue to work with Bozzuto’s leadership team, providing strategic counsel and guidance. Additionally, Mostyn will oversee acquisitions, insurance, and risk management programs.
With over 10 years working with Bozzuto Construction, Weisner will work closely with Bozzuto’s leadership team to continue BCC’s trajectory of growth and expansion to new markets and new product offerings.
