GREENBELT, MD — April 2, 2018 — At its more than 250 apartment communities throughout the country, Bozzuto Management Company (BMC) creates sanctuary and delivers extraordinary experiences to residents, partners and associates. For the second consecutive year, Bozzuto Management Company earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award. The award, the highest honor bestowed by EPA, recognizes organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through energy efficiency.
Bozzuto Management Company received the distinction this year for advancing energy management in the multifamily industry, with a 150 percent increase in communities achieving ENERGY STAR Certification and a 3 percent reduction in energy consumption across its entire managed portfolio. In addition, Bozzuto Management Company orchestrated energy and water competitions modeled after the ENERGY STAR “Battle of the Buildings,” which focused on gamifying efficiency between their apartment communities as well as individual residents.
In 2017, for their superior level of energy management and best practices, including resident engagement and education and world-class strategies that provide substantial energy and money savings, Bozzuto Management Company became the first and only 100 percent multifamily management company to win this award. This year, the recognition comes as Bozzuto works toward even greater energy management and efficiency practices.
“We are thrilled to achieve this distinction for the second year in a row. With an increasingly dynamic and diverse portfolio, achieving our energy reduction goals was no small feat. We are constantly looking at ways to ‘move the needle’ on hi-performance building operations, from resident engagement and education to behind-the-scenes analytics. We look forward to carrying this momentum throughout the coming year.”
The award will be presented Friday, April 20, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. For a complete list of 2018 winners and more information about ENERGY STAR’s awards program, visit www.energystar.gov/awardwinners.
