The Bozzuto Group, a Greenbelt-based real estate firm that has built more than 42,000 homes and apartments, was named multifamily development firm of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders.
The 29-year-old company, which received the award Tuesday at a ceremony in Orlando, has built large developments in Baltimore, such as the Union Wharf apartments in Fells Point and the Fitzgerald in Mount Royal. It also has a stake in the $100 million, 292-unit Anthem House in Locust Point that is set to open this year.
The association’s Multifamily Leadership Board praised Bozzuto for “expertise in maximizing density, creating a high-end rental product compatible with a town center, employing low-impact green approaches and reusing land that no longer serves the needs of the community.”
The board noted that Bozzuto’s portfolio includes high-rises, garden-style apartments, mixed-use communities and affordable housing, “with an eye toward neighborhoods that are walkable and transit-oriented.
