College Park

The young vibrant town of College Park has been centered around college life since 1889, when the Maryland Agricultural College (now the University of Maryland) was first established. With the town’s proximity to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the town developed quickly as families moved into the area to escape a crowded Washington, DC and college faculty and employee staff numbers increased to serve the growing school. Today, College Park is a quintessential college town, with a beautiful, leafy campus, lovely old homes and a small commercial area dedicated to serving the town’s college population. Paint Branch Valley Stream Park runs through College Park, providing recreation opportunities and a bike trail popular with residents, and of course DC is a short ride south on either the Metro or MARC commuter train.
